From childhood, Bryan practiced sketching animals, whales and creating cartoons. In his teenage years he had an opportunity to study Art History and learn basic art concepts with artist Hobson Pitman & Margaret O'Reilly at Friends Central School. While serving in the Army, Bryan spent 4 years in Europe spending his free time traveling through England, France, Holland, Belgian, Madrid, and most frequently Florence & Rome. There he observed the artwork of The Masters of The Renaissance & Impressionists. He purchased paintings that he could afford on an Army salary. Upon returning to the U.S., he took oil painting classes with artist Anne Balbirnie. For the past 20 years he has painted with acrylics and alcohol ink. The subjects of his compositions have been greatly enhanced by a lifelong study of Native American Customs & Ceremonies. Additionally, Bryan enjoys abstract and semi abstract subjects, flowers, fish and other animals, always trying to include a little amusement for the viewer!
